Bastian Machek

IT nerd in his mid-forties, living in southern Germany. Married, father of a little boy. I live with CIDP (Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy), a rare autoimmune nerve disease.

I focus on what I love: photography and building free software.

Software

I’m creator and lead developer of LrGeniusAI: a Lightroom Classic plugin that uses LLMs to tag and describe images, with semantic search and support for local (Ollama, LM Studio) and cloud (Gemini, Vertex AI) models. Under the LrGenius org.

I also maintain the LR Immich Plugin, which connects Lightroom Classic with Immich for export, publish, and import workflows.

Outside photography I’m building CIDP Buddy — as a CIDP patient myself, I built this Flutter app to help patients manage infusions, medication and supply inventory, schedules, and a vitals & symptom diary.
